🏓 How to Read the Table Tennis Scoreboard

Welcome to your new digital table tennis scoreboard! Whether you’re a tournament organizer, club player, or casual competitor, this guide will help you quickly understand how to read and interpret the scores displayed on the board.

📦 Scoreboard Overview

Our table tennis scoreboard is designed with 6 digital displays, providing clear, real-time updates on the game and match progress.

🔍 Display Layout:

Section Description Range
Set Left Number of sets won by the left player/team 0–3 or 0–4
Score Left (2 digits) Current game points for left player/team 00–11 (or up to 21)
Score Right (2 digits) Current game points for right player/team 00–11 (or up to 21)
Set Right Number of sets won by the right player/team 0–3 or 0–4

🧠 Understanding the Terms

🎯 Points

  • Also known as the game score.

  • Each player scores points during a game.

  • A player needs to reach 11 points (or 21 in some formats) and lead by 2 points to win a game.

  • After each game, the points reset to zero.

🏆 Sets

  • A set is won by the player who first reaches 11 points (win by 2).

  • The match is played as best of 5 or best of 7:

    • Best of 5 → First to win 3 sets.

    • Best of 7 → First to win 4 sets.

  • Sets are more important than points, as they determine the match winner.

📖 Example Scenario

Let’s say the scoreboard displays the following:

[ 2 ] [ 0 9 ] || [ 1 1 ] [ 1 ]

  • Left player has won 2 sets so far.

  • Right player has won 1 set.

  • Current game score: Left = 9 points, Right = 11 points.

  • This means the right player just won the current game, and their set count will increase to 2 in the next update.
